Don't Be "That Guy"

I will NEVER forgive Paul. And yes, that is his real name. We haven’t spoken in over 10 years so I doubt he’ll ever find out I still hate him.
During bar trivia in 2013, we were explicitly told to keep our phones out of sight. They didn’t want us looking up the answers and anyone caught with their phone, would be disqualified for that question.

But we are so addicted to our tiny pocket overlords that pulling it out turns into muscle memory. And lets say, someone on the trivia team wasn’t as skilled at trivia as the rest of us. So that someone became disengaged and decided to check his texts. The host caught this person staring at his little doom-scroll device and even though he wasn’t looking up the answer, the other 7 hard working team members were still disqualified. That “someone” was Paul.
Bar trivia has changed over time. It has become nearly impossible to enforce the “no phones” rule. Heck, Virtually Good Trivia is played right on your smartphone! Since we use a countdown points system, those who answer faster get more points. Anyone can open another tab and search for the trivia answer but it would be a hollow victory. They might get all the questions correct but very few points. This system really incentivizes natural talent.
In conclusion: I hope Paul stubs his toe on every piece of furniture he owns. Daily.
